10:00am – 11:30am Education & Police in Schools
The American education system operates in a way that forces students to memorize arbitrary facts rather than to learn to critically think about the world around them. They're placed in an environment where they're taught to blindly follow instructions from teachers and resource officers. This session will explore how these observations show that students are being conditioned to operate with maximum productivity in workplaces and prisons for the benefit of the ruling class.
11:30am – 11:45am Break
11:45am – 1:15pm Family’s Fight
Women and families whose loved ones are murdered by the police are subjected to endless harassment and trauma. This session, led by several mothers who have spent years fighting for justice for their children, will share these experiences, but with a focus on how to fight back and some of the lessons they've learned along the way.
1:15pm – 2:15pm Lunch
2:15pm – 3:45pm Gentrification & Colonization
The gentrification of our neighborhoods and eradication of our communities parallels the global destruction caused by imperialist colonization. This session will discuss how capitalism relies on exploitation and expansion, draw out the connections land and resource grabs at home and abroad, and discuss examples of how to fight back.
3:45pm – 4:00pm Break
4:00pm – 5:30pm Mass Action & Collective Liberation
In all the struggles we involve ourselves in, there is at least one common thread: the road to get free must include independent mass action and participation to win any real, lasting concessions from the State. It is imperative for oppressed people to work together. The liberation of one oppressed group improves the conditions of every working-class person. In this session, the speakers will stress the importance of mass action and examine the connections among liberation movements.
